6th plate tintype of a Union cavalry soldier.He is most likely from the western theater of the war based on his style of dress.He sports a regulation issue 9 button frock coat.Eagle sword belt plate worn around the outside of the coat.The holster for the large revolver he has tucked into his belt can be seen protruding from his side.Grasping a cavalry saber.Very large silk cravat worn around the neck and sporting a wonderful hat with an ostrich plume pinned to one side along with his company insignia attached to the front of the hat.Very dashing looking soldier.Fantastic image with great content.

Civil War 1840 heavy Cavalry sword, nicknamed the wrist-breaker by the soldiers who used it.  This was imported by the North and the South for the war. Saber is in ery good condition with original leather and wire on hilt. Scabbard is dent free with a nice brown patina.

RM2  Civil War model 1840 heavy Cavalry Sword, these were used by both North and South during the Civil War.With the heavy weight of the blade the Soldiers nick-named this sword the wrist-breaker.  This sword was found in a Old Estate sale in Virginia, missing most of the leather from hilt and the throat from the scabbard., if this one could only talk!!
