E190 19th century Southern Virgina Eastern North Carolina hand made gathering Basket. Very unusual, outstanding workmanship, the basket is made of hickory , with southern heart pine bottom, the ribs are old hand hewed, and tapered, the ribs are mortised through the bottom, . in wonderful dry old natural patina, with a triple wrapped rim and a solid wooden bottom. heavy construction circa 1860
